On the LIRAVA smart-glasses platform

A second pair of eyes, in any weather.

SpecialAssist guides blind travellers across indoor halls, sidewalks and streets — through rain, night, storm or tornado — and describes the world out loud, calmly, the moment it's asked.

The problem

Getting around shouldn't depend on the weather.

A white cane and a guide dog reach only a step or two ahead. Most smart aids lean on cameras alone — and fade in rain, fog and darkness. The gap is widest precisely when the world is hardest to read.

Who we design for

"I don't want to be guided. I want to know what's there, and decide for myself."

Maya commutes to work, runs her own errands, meets friends for coffee. Independent — and tired of routes that only work in good weather. What earns her trust: calm, accurate, hands-free — and honest when it's unsure.

The idea

Two jobs, one pair of glasses.

Take me anywhere

Real-time, all-weather navigation indoors and out — with spatial audio and haptics, completely hands-free. You walk at your own pace; guidance stays calm and sparse.

Tell me what's there

On-demand scene description — people, doorways, free seats, text and signs — read aloud in plain language, only the part that matters, the moment you ask.

How it works

From sensor to spoken word.

Safety-critical perception runs on the frame itself, in under 50 milliseconds — no waiting on a network when a step matters.

01

Sensors

LiDAR, cameras, motion sensors and mics read the scene.

02

Fusion

Filter, de-noise and map — millions of points become a clean picture.

03

AI perception

Obstacles, scene and a walkable path, recognised on-device.

04

Decision

Weather, context and priority decide what to say — and what to hold.

05

Audio out

Spatial sound, haptics and one calm voice — ears stay open.

All-weather resilience

It adapts as conditions turn.

The decision layer changes which sensors it trusts — so navigation never goes dark.

Clear

The full sensor suite runs, for maximum accuracy.

Rain & fog

Radar and filtered LiDAR take over from cameras.

Night

LiDAR plus infrared see clearly in the dark.

Storm

Alerts fire; it guides you to the nearest shelter.

Shelter mode

When the storm hits.

A weather alert arrives over cellular. SpecialAssist drops everything else, pulls the alert, and becomes a single-minded guide to the nearest safe shelter — narrating every step.

"Tornado warning. Switching to shelter guidance now."
"120 meters straight ahead — Maple Street Community Hall, brick, ground floor."

The one rule

One voice, never crowded.

Three channels, strictly ranked — so the important thing is always the thing you hear.

1 · Safety

Interrupts everything

Hazards cut in instantly, the moment they appear.

"Car from your left — hold."

2 · Navigation

Only when needed

Turn-by-turn cues, never chatter for its own sake.

"Bear right at the corner."

3 · Scene

On demand

The rich description of the world, when you ask for it.

"A warm room, a dozen people."

The platform

The hardware you already have.

Every component on the LIRAVA frame already feeds the system — nothing extra to carry.
